How Do I Join the OC Excellence Running Club? 

Just click the ‘Contact Us” button at the top of the page to begin. We’re excited to hear from you and will respond as soon as possible!


I have never run before. Do you accept beginners who are just starting and have no experience yet?

Yes, we warmly welcome runners of all experience levels. Our dedicated coaching staff will assess your current running skills, analyze your technique, and evaluate your physical capabilities. Based on this comprehensive evaluation, we will create a personalized training plan designed to help you improve your endurance, speed, and overall performance. We will guide you every step of the way.

 

What is the specific age range required to join this running club, including any minimum or maximum age limits?

We accept students in 5th to 8th grade. Some exceptions may be made.


What is the monthly fee required to become a member of the running club, including any additional costs or dues? 

The membership fee is $130 per month, with no long-term contracts required—membership is month-to-month. The first 2 weeks are complimentary to try out the program and see if your kid wants to continue. We also offer family discounts for parents enrolling multiple kids.

 

What equipment do I need to participate?

The basic equipment necessary for a comfortable run includes a pair of well-cushioned, supportive running shoes suited to your foot type, athletic shorts made from breathable fabric, and a moisture-wicking shirt to keep you dry. We recommend purchasing your gear at A Snail's Pace Running Shop located in Mission Viejo, where their knowledgeable staff can assist you in selecting the best equipment for your needs and provide personalized advice to enhance your running experience.


Is it possible for me to run once or twice a week if I have a busy schedule? 

Absolutely. Our club organizes regular group runs on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays to accommodate diverse schedules and training needs. Not all members participate in every session; attendance varies based on individual goals, training plans, location, work commitments, and personal preferences. We generally recommend running at least twice a week to experience noticeable progress and continuous improvement in your running performance.


What does a typical running workout usually consist of, including warm-up, main running segments, and cool-down phases?

Coaches design workout routines based on each runner's experience, current fitness level, proper training principles, and other relevant factors. Runners typically train with others at a similar skill and fitness level to ensure appropriate pacing and support during their runs.

 

What specific types of support and coaching services can student athletes expect to receive, including academic advising, athletic training, mental health resources, and skill development programs?

Our coaches have extensive experience working with runners of all ages, from young children to seniors, and are passionate, lifelong athletics enthusiasts. They enthusiastically share their knowledge and love for running with their athletes, guiding them through training routines, technique improvements, and race strategies. Their goal is to inspire and motivate young people within the community to discover the joys of athletics, pursue their personal best, and develop a lifelong commitment to active, healthy living.
